Three Niviuk teams flying the Klimber P will participate in the Red Bull X-Alps 2017

These are the Niviuk pilots competing in this year’s race:

GAVIN McCLURG
Nationality: United States of America
Age: 44

Profession: Professional paraglider pilot, director and owner of Offshore Odysseys.

Previous participation in the X-Alps:

Second time; the first time was the 2015

race (8th place).

Paragliding experience: Gavin has participated in various PWC competitions, he won US Nationals in 2015, second-placed in the Pre-Worlds in Colombia (2014) and he has flown many of the major mountain ranges in the world. In 2015 National Geographic named him “Adventurer of the Year” for his vol-biv expedition crossing the Rocky Mountains of Canada and last year he completed the Alaska Traverse, a complete traverse of the Alaska Range, completing 800 km in 37 days.

IGNACIO ARÉVALO

Nationality: Spanish

Age: 37

Profession: Fire Fighter

Supporter: Francisco Javier Delgado Cid

Previous participation in the X-Alps:

First time.

Paragliding experience: Ignacio started competing in 2012 and in less than one year was crowned champion of Andalucia, third in the Spanish Nationals and second in the national league (all in sports class). Since then, he has won various national competitions in locations like Algodonales, El Yelmo, Berga and Piedrahita and he secured 11th place in the 2014 X-Pyr. In the 2016 edition of the X-Pyr he was placed 4th.

EVGENY GRIAZNOV

Nationality: Russian

Age: 44

Profession: Paragliding

Supporter: Stanislaw Radzikowski

Previous participation in the X-Alps:

2009, 2011, 2013.

Paragliding experience: With over 30 succesfully completed paragliding competitions and multiple Top 10 finishes, Red Bull X-Alps 2017 will be Griaznov’s 4th Red Bull X-Alps. His best finish was 5th place in 2009, but he missed out on Monaco by less than 200km. Since then, he’s been racking up the adventure miles and as one of the veterans will be looking for the race of a lifetime.
